The Senate has passed two pieces of bipartisan legislation focused on improving the nation's recycling and composting systems, led by Senators Shelley Moore Capito, Tom Carper, and John Boozman.

"By passing these bills, the Senate took a positive step forward in making it easier for more people to recycle, especially in rural states like West Virginia, which is good for the environment and our economy," said Ranking Member Capito.

Chairman Carper emphasized the importance of the legislation, stating, "Most Americans want to do their part to reduce waste and harmful pollution... These two bipartisan bills will help address several of the challenges plaguing our nation's recycling and composting systems."

Senator Boozman expressed his appreciation for the leadership of Chairman Carper and Ranking Member Capito in championing solutions to expand environmental stewardship, stating, "These bills will lead to sustainable practices that preserve our resources while enhancing our nation's recycling and composting infrastructure."

The Recycling Infrastructure and Accessibility Act, one of the bills passed, aims to establish a pilot recycling program at the EPA to improve recycling accessibility in underserved communities. The Recycling and Composting Accountability Act, the second bill passed, focuses on improving data collection on recycling systems and exploring a national composting strategy.

The legislation is seen as crucial for the economy and job creation, with Senator Boozman urging the House of Representatives to pass these measures.
